Choral music has been central to the cathedral's worship for centuries.

First mentioned in a manuscript in 1328 St Fin Barre’s Cathedral Choir exemplifies the Anglican choral tradition.

Our Choir

The present choir consists of boy choristers, girl choristers, choral scholars and lay vicars choral (adult singers).

Music Staff

The Cathedral Choir is led by the Director of Music Peter Stobart and Assistant Director of Music Matthew Breen.

Diocesan Church Music Scheme

This scheme aims to encourage and foster both singing and musical education in our schools and churches in a way that also enriches our worship and religious education in the Diocese.

Visiting Choirs

The cathedral welcomes visiting choirs to sing services during those periods that the Cathedral Choir is on holiday.

The Cathedral Organ

One of the most dramatic features of the cathedral is the magnificent organ rebuilt by Trevor Crowe in 2013.
